History

Our story began in early 1920’s when Cpt. Arif Bayraktar started off the business from a small machinery plant where pistons were repaired and shafts were maintained. His hard working and entrepreneur spirit soon resulted with owning a 150 dwcc coaster, named M/V SON MODA; floating within Black Sea ports mainly carrying coal.

In 1947, the company managed to build its second vessel 250 dwcc wooden coaster, M/V ŞANAL; this time floating within Marmara Sea ports again mainly carrying coal.

Cpt. Arif Bayraktar and his sons’ only aim were to build their own steel vessels with their own capital while protecting their earned respect within the national market. With that aim in mind, it did not take so long to reach to that dream. Company’s first steel constructed vessel (M/V ARIF KAPTAN) was built in 1978; still serving within Turkish Cabotage waters.

The company now owns 14 modern ships including two supramax type bulk carriers, reaching to a total of 235,000 dwt; serving to valued customers worldwide.
